Registros de aves raras ou ameaçadas em novas localidades no Estado de Santa Catarina, sul do Brasil


We present records of 11 rare, threatened or little- known birds in the state of Santa Catarina, southern Brazil. These records come from different regions. Tiny Hawk Accipiter superciliosus, White- bearded Antshrike Biatas nigropectus, Eye- ringed Tody- Tyrant Hemitriccus orbitatus and Wing- barred Piprites Piprites chloris were found in the municipalities of Guabiruba, Indaial and Blumenau, in the Itajaí Valley. Great Dusky Swift Cypseloides senex, Mottled Piculet Picumnus nebulosus, Helmeted Woodpecker Dryocopus galeatus, Striolated Tit- Spinetail Leptasthenura striolata, Canebrake Groundcreeper Clibanornis dendrocolaptoides and Red- crested Cardinal Paroaria coronata were recorded in the municipalities of Ipuaçu, Abelardo Luz, São Domingos and Passos Maia, in the west of the state. We also present a historical record of Black- fronted Piping Guan Aburria jacutinga from Nova Trento, in the rio Tijucas Valley. Our data add locations previously unknown for these species in Santa Catarina. The records of Dryocopus galeatus and Biatas nigropectus are the most noteworthy, as both species are globally threatened and very rare in Santa Catarina.
